Heritage College Project: Minister Evaluates Construction Works at Sree Kerala Varma College
As part of the Heritage College Project, Minister Dr. R. Bindu evaluated the ongoing construction works at Sree Kerala Varma College in Thrissur. This college is one of the five institutions in the state being developed into centers of excellence with financial assistance from the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
During the review meeting, the College Principal-in-Charge Dr. K. Jayanisha, Cochin Devaswom Board President Dr. MK Sudarshan, the Deputy Director of Collegiate Education, KITCO representatives, the Secretary of the Cochin Devaswom Board, and members of the Devaswom Board were present. KITCO representatives indicated that the building could be handed over within two months after the completion of the construction works.
Under the Heritage College Project, a total of Rs 18.9 crore has been allocated for constructing PG and UG blocks and a sports complex at Sree Kerala Varma College. Additionally, Rs 6 crore has been allocated for modernizing classrooms, laboratories, and digitizing the library, and Rs 5.1 crore for establishing two interdisciplinary research centers. For the first phase of development, KIIFB has sanctioned Rs 14.323 crore, and the construction of the PG block is currently nearing completion.
Minister Dr. R. Bindu directed that the construction works be completed as soon as possible. She also mentioned that the necessary steps for starting the next phase of development works will be examined. Additionally, the minister suggested convening a meeting of the college's well-wishers to discuss the development matters.
